My Kleinfeld Bridal Experience

What it's really like shopping at one of Manhattans widest variety of bridal gown stores. Known best for its Say Yes to the Dress TV Show; I'm opening up about whether it's really all its hyped up to be. Experience, dresses, everything.

First of all, I am the biggest fan of the TLC TV show Say Yes To The Dress. I have no problem admitting that I have a slight obsession with wedding gowns. My husband thought my obsession would fade away once I found my own wedding gown and we shared the best day ever (our wedding day.) He was wrong. I am truly happy and content scrolling through pictures and watching others try on wedding gowns, even after my own wedding had come and gone. I think being a bridal consultant is a dream job. With that being said, I had high expectations for my bridal appointment at Kleinfeld and was sadly, a little disappointed in the end.

Booking My Appointment

My little sister and Maid of Honor, Dacia, secretly planned to make the appointment at Kleinfeld without my knowing to surprise me. My entire family knew how much I loved the show and understood my crazy passion for wedding dresses. So, making the trip to New York just to find a wedding dress might sound crazy to some. But for us, it seemed like the obvious choice. Not to mention that I live in northern Virginia, my family lives in Wyoming, and my husbands family live in Nebraska. Either way someone would have to travel. Why not everyone travel and make a huge girls trip out of it. We were able to cross a ton off our bucket lists while also shopping for my dream dress. Making the appointment was easy. You can either do it online or call in to make the appointment. They ask some simple questions and boom..you're on your way. It is extremely helpful if you bring pictures of wedding gowns or style you are inspired by. Most of my inspirational pictures were couture bridal wayyyyyy out of my budget. But most consultants can look at your inspiration and hopefully find something similar in store, and within your budget.

My appointment

It's definitely surreal once you walk in and are greeted by the receptionist. It's just as beautiful in person as it is on TV. The main room is definitely smaller than it looks on TV. My consultant was Antonella with the help of Shay and an intern, Zoe. They brought my entourage to a more private section of the store, which included my mom, aunt, older and younger sister, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and future (hopefully) second sister-in-law. As we went back, we passed tons of beautiful dresses. We quickly browsed through some becassue it is pretty obvious that they want to "shopping" to be done by consultants. My sister, Alyssa, grabbed one in particular dress and said, "this is your dress." I looked at it..it was perfect and probably would of my price range...so I kept walking. Once in the changing room, Antonella asked me what I was looking for, my price point, and measured me to find out what size I was. She looked at my inspiration photos and said, just as I thought, that they were all bridal couture and out of my price point, but that the store had a lot of similar options. I changed into a robe and then she went off to find some picks.

She came back about 5 minutes later with 3 options.
